Approximately 3-hour hike along old cattle trails through mature temperate rainforest and open grasslands. Includes a trail snack, use of walking poles, a viewpoint over the estuary, and a traditional countryside lunch in a home overlooking the estuary. The return is by boat to the fishing cove of Rollizo.
You’ll follow trails first opened by animals and people long before paved roads existed.
The route winds through temperate rainforest, open grasslands, and areas of regeneration. Along the way, the landscape reveals itself in the details: trees, soils, and traces of human use that tell the story of how this territory has been inhabited and transformed.
It is an approximately 3-hour hike, with uphill sections and uneven terrain. We walk with trekking poles and take breaks to rest, observe, and talk about what you see.
At one of the highest points, the forest opens up to reveal the estuary. From the viewpoint, you can see the relationship between the mountains, the water, and rural life.
At the end of the hike, you arrive at a country home on the edge of the estuary, where we share a traditional rural lunch prepared with local ingredients. A place that invites you to slow down and bring the day to a close without rushing.
The return follows a different route. You board a boat from the edge of the estuary and sail back to the fishing cove of Rollizo.
An active, immersive experience for those who enjoy walking, observing, and connecting with rural life in southern Chile.
